Can I use the MT4 indicators/strategies in Forex Tester?

The indicators that we offer in Forex Tester are usually enough for any basic strategy. If you still want to add an indicator or expert advisor (EA) from MetaTrader 4 that is not on our list, you need to convert it from the .mql format to the .dll format suitable for Forex Tester.

We have created a special tool for this very purpose – the MT4 to FT4 Converter that is already built into the Forex Tester 4 software.

You can convert the needed indicators/EAs via the “File” → “Install” → “Install New Indicator/Strategy/Script” menu.

Please follow this link to get more information about our Converter tool.

* Please note that Converter is only available in the registered version of Forex Tester 4. You won’t be able to use this tool in Forex Tester 2 or Forex Tester 3.

To use an indicator from MT4 in FT2 or FT3, you need to convert it from the .mql to the .dll format manually. The conversion is not very difficult because our API is very similar to MQL. You can find the API files at C:\ForexTester\Examples\Indicators. Get more information about API via Forex Tester → API Help → Indicators API.

If you don’t have programming skills, our specialists can convert the needed indicator for you! Find more details here.

In case you want to create your own strategy, we offer you to try our Visual Strategy Builder – a simple tool for creating expert advisors without coding skills required:

How to upgrade to the latest version of Forex Tester?

If you have already purchased Forex Tester 2 or Forex Tester 3, you can get an upgrade to Forex Tester 4 at any time. You can upgrade to Forex Tester 4 here.

Please pay attention to which exactly version of Forex Tester you used before. We strongly recommend checking it before making a purchase to avoid mistakes.

How do I set up New York Close charts and remove weekends data?

All our data is in GMT, so daily candles close at 0:00 GMT.

If you need to change the time zone in Forex Tester 3, please set up the “Time zone” parameter to “GMT+2” (or “GMT+3”) when creating a new project:

GMT+2 shift is set during the winter daylight saving time.

GMT+3 works for the summer daylight saving time.

How to set up New York Close time in Forex Tester trading simulator

The time zone parameter change will allow you to see the New York session candles. This will also remove the weekends data automatically.

In Forex Tester 4, you can select the needed session close time while creating a new project. There are 5 options to select from:

  1. Sydney Close
  2. Tokyo Close
  3. London Close
  4. New York Close
  5. Custom

To adjust your time settings, please go to “New Project” → find the “Time zone” section (the last window of the project creating form) → select the time zone you need.

In the same section, you can enable/disable Daylight Saving Time (DST). Just choose one of the variants: No DST; US DST; European DST; Australian DST.

What Windows versions Forex Tester 4 is compatible with?
